“Of course He isn’t safe! But’s He’s good.” This is a quote about Aslan, from The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. In Narnia, Aslan represents Jesus. The King of the World. The son of the Great Emperor Beyond the Sea. In parallel to the world, when living life with Jesus, safety is never promised. But we always know that He is good.
Something I have been taught recently, is that the place that God is calling you is where you feel closest to him. Living in America, I felt safe, but I didn’t feel close to God. Actually he felt quite far away. Overseas, in countries I never thought I’d be in, I’ve found God to be close. I’ve discovered how near he is. I might not have found safety living life on fire for Jesus, but I have found Jesus.
I have found him in the little ways. From the friendships and community he gives me. To the connections he’s helped me keep from America. He’s taught me just how much the world has to offer. The places I’ve been are only just the beginning. He’s taught me about how in this world, home isn’t a place for me. Home is wherever he has me. Home is the community I’ve built. Home is ultimately heaven.
So no, I have no found life with Jesus to promise safety. But I have found it to promise riches of joy, love, hope, peace, and so much more. I have found it build and bring community in ways I’ve never experienced before. I have found it to be a pathway all the way into other nations.
Daddy would be so happy to see you not only quoting Aslan, but that this statement is one of his favorites. And so very true! I like the home is where He has you.
