Indonesia. A country I walked into with no expectations. A place that has captured my heart. I have made lasting friendships, taught my hosts English, and had many a random adventure. The weeks filled with teaching, and the weekends filled with laughter, this country has been so sweet to me.

On the weekends, I went on many a random adventure. I would go to malls, once I went to see a movie. There was one weekend we went to the beach, and I had the privilege of getting to explore the rocks with one of my friends there. Another weekend we went to a water park, and Sofia and I rose the tubes together. We flipped quite a few times, and overall had a fun exhilarating experience. One other adventure I went on was horseback riding in the beach. That was fun, even though it did just make me miss horses more.

During the week, I spent a lot of my time working on English classes for the place we worked. It was actually rather enjoyable, and I loved getting to teach English. I rediscovered my love for teaching children, something I had started a bit in Guatamala. I loved getting to take photos on my camera as well, that made me really happy.

One thing that God has taught me over and over in Indonesia is that His timing and His plan are perfect. He takes into account the things we don’t even know about yet, and gives us exactly what we need. One example of this is from one day where I was planning on meeting up with someone I had met, along with a host. Well, it gets to be near the meeting time, and the person I was meeting cancels because of rain. Well, since I had already planned to meet with my host, we still met up and got work done we wouldn’t have otherwise.

This country has captured a special place in my heart, and as I sit on the plane flying away, I already long to be back. I wish to sit in the coffee shops I frequented while there. I long to watch the sunset from the balcony. My heart wishes to be with those I love once more. The friends I made, and the memories I gained, will stay with me forever.

One response to “Indonesia, a new love”

  1. I’m so glad God has revealed that he was there before we were. I’m also happy you will be home soon!
    Love you, Mimi
