Sitting barefoot in the back of a truck. Being grateful to actually have spoons. Climbing up trees and containers. Staring up at the stars. These are all things that I have done in Swazi. I have learned so many things, watched so many people grow, built relationships, and overall been amazed at how the Lord works.
Working at the clinic has allowed me to go to outreaches. To get to these outreaches, we ride in the bed of a truck with all the meds, and at least one nurse. We sit on these mats, which were kinda like those things you put in the front windshield of your car so that your seats don’t get hot. Well, when sitting on these mats you don’t wear shoes, so you ride barefoot.
I have always loved being high up in the air. Just ask my mom. She has so many photos of me in trees, climbing something, or jumping off of something. So having access to trees and containers to climb has been such a blessing from the Lord. I think more clearly when I’m up in something, so I enjoyed many a wonderful conversation up in those places. Whether it was with Jesus, or a squadmate, I enjoy every bit.
The stars in Swazi are beautiful. Granted, the sky is always beautiful in Swazi, but the stars were really cool because there’s like no light pollution out where we were. So this means, when it wasn’t cloudy, we could see so many constellations, and even some planets. As well as beautiful sunrises and sunsets.
I will always appreciate the time God has allowed me to spend here. As well as the new understanding for living the simple things in life. I encourage you to take a moment, look around, breathe, and tell God one small thing you’re grateful for.
How much we take for granted! God’s world and his people are beautiful to behold. We just need to take time to rejoice for the many wonders God has given us. Thank you Abeni for the reminder. Be still and know God today and everyday.
Love, Mimi
